Species: Subgenus: Phyllantherum (Sessile)
Family: Trilliaceae
Genus: Trillium
Subgenus: Phyllantherum (Sessile)
Common Name: Toadshade

Sessile Trillium have leaves mottled, flowers terminal and petals are more or less erect. Three subgroups (Freeman) are recurvatum group I (recurved sepals and slender rhizomes), sessile group II (long anther connectives, sharp angle ovaries and thick compact rhizomes) and maculatum group III (lateral and short anthers).

As you will notice below I am Thankful to a number of trillium lovers which has contributed pictures for all to see. We are still in need for pictures of other species, varieties, forms, and exotic trillium cultivars. You are invited to provide trillium species or cultivar images so we might eventually display all species, varieties and forms and exotic cultivars. I am especially thankful to Carl Denton for his images and cultivar descriptions. In time I hope to complete the description with each picture. Feel free to input

Please email any trillium submittals to ... <harold@trilliumresearch.org>. You may submit, if you wish, pictures or other large files on a CD-ROM to: Holmes Trillium Research, 17 Heather Street, Lacey's Spring, Alabama 35754.
